To properly conduct heat from our 65W heater to the Mako Hotend for Bambu Lab, it's highly recommended to use the following thermal grease:
Unlock the full potential of your existing Mako® Hotend with the Mako 65W High-Power Electronics. Designed specifically for the Mako Hotend for Bambu Lab X1 and P1 series printers, this upgrade replaces the stock heating electronics with a 65W ceramic heater, providing the additional heating power needed to achieve higher flow rates and more consistent performance.
The original Mako was designed around a high-power heating system, but various factors prevented us from releasing it with a high-power heater. The 65W High-Power Electronics finally delivers the heating capacity the Mako was designed to use.
With 65W of heating power, the Mako can reach and maintain temperature more effectively at high flow rates. This is particularly beneficial when printing with larger nozzle sizes and high-temperature materials, where the stock heater can become a limiting factor. The increased power also provides faster heat-up times and greater temperature stability during demanding prints.
The 65W High-Power Electronics are an upgrade for existing Mako Hotends. The physical Mako Hotend itself remains unchanged, retaining its rigid roll-cage design, high-performance aluminum fan, and interchangeable GammaMaster® Nozzles.
For the best results, use the 65W material profiles available in the Downloads section of the Mako® 65W High-Power Hotend for Bambu Lab page.
Disclaimers:
- This product does not include a fan. If you need one, please purchase one from our High Performance Fan for Bambu Lab page.
- Temperature Limitations: Although the Mako Hotend is rated up to 360°C, Bambu Lab Printers are limited to 300-320°C by the firmware depending on the model.
- Unlike the previous design, which relied on the stock heater and a separate adapter, the new heater occupies the entire footprint of the heater slot for maximum thermal performance. So, the heater adapter is no longer needed.

❝I’ve been really impressed by how stable the Mako with the 65W heater is. I’ve been printing big, flat panels where the nozzle is just constantly extruding line after line, and those panels pull a lot of heat out of the hotend. With the stock setup, there just wasn’t enough heat to keep up. With the 65W Mako, it just runs. It’s a much more stable platform and has brought reliability to almost 100%.❞

Stock Versus Mako 65W MVS Test (10-50 mm3/s)
Note: For this test, we used OrcaSlicer’s MVS calibration model as the base and created custom g-code to allow the test to be run in both OrcaSlicer and Bambu Studio. OrcaSlicer’s built-in test limits outer-wall speeds and defaults to thick layer lines, making it difficult to accurately demonstrate the Mako 65W’s high flow-rate and speed capabilities. Our custom test increases both print speed and MVS by 1 mm³/s per 1 mm of height, starting at 10 mm³/s (75 mm/s outer wall) and ending at 50 mm³/s (374 mm/s outer wall). Each marked line on the model (not shown in the video above) represents approximately 2 mm³/s of flow-rate change.
